The Structural RFQ Checklist — What to Send So Quotes Come Back Real
Structural quotes are slow and incomparable for one reason: RFQs arrive incomplete, so every firm prices a different guess. Send these eight things and the quotes you get back are fast, comparable, and priced from your actual scope.
The Eight Items
- Project address and jurisdiction (city/county) — the permit path and the license state both hang off this
- Building type, square footage, number of stories, and construction type if known
- The geotechnical report — or its honest status. No structural quote is real without soils; a firm that quotes without asking is guessing with your money
- Your architectural drawings or program, as PDF, however rough — a napkin stage is fine if labeled as such
- The structural system you have in mind (steel, concrete, wood, tilt-up) — or 'undecided, advise us,' which is also an answer
- Existing-building work: as-built drawings, prior permits, and exactly what is changing
- Who else is on the team (architect, GC, MEP engineer) and who is coordinating
- Your deadline, stated as the real date the permit or the lender needs the set — plus any correction notices or AHJ letters, which ARE scope
What Good Looks Like
A quote built from a complete RFQ names the system, the deliverables, the seal and the credential behind it, and the date — and it holds. The evaluated firms on this site commit to same-day quotes from a complete scope; hold every bidder, ours included, to that standard. Before you sign with anyone: verify the license.
Who Publishes This Directory
Published by Apex Grid Engineering PLLC. The firms evaluated and listed on this site today are the publisher's own family of brands — this is an affiliated directory, not a neutral referee. The methodology below is the standard any engineering firm can be measured against, and it is the standard we hold our own firms to in public. Presentation order on this site is the publisher's choice and an experiment in what helps buyers decide — it is not an objective quality verdict, and no firm pays for placement. Coverage claims are limited to licensure the operator's bench actually holds, stated per state. No reviews, ratings, or project claims are published for any firm unless they can be documented — you will find none invented here.
